My first inclination was to just say "Bah Humbug" and then go on my way. On reflection I realized my Friends and Newsvine and all the People in the World I know deserve better than that. Instead I will leave you with a song that I dearly love but often fail to remember.

This Oklahoma wildfire threatened Medicine Park homes. The Old Fogey's son has a house right over the ridge near the very top of the mountain you see in these photos.
Somebody either rolled a truck load of panties or someone had way too many in their drawers. Panties in drawers? I thought panties were drawers. Oh, well, it is being handled like a crime here in Ohio.
In must have been a big one. I was in my camper taking a shower when I thought the camper was rolliing down the hill. Lately I had been feeling some shakes and thought it was mostly my imagination. This has been going on for a week or ten days.

I really wanted Dowser's rocks but I got the next best thing. You will never guess what it is. Pictures are worth a thousand words, but they can lie. Nope, I didn't get the rocks but I got something so much more solid and substantial.

Middle America has gotten smaller in proportion. There are now more people in what we used to call the wealthy class and there are more in the poor class. There are more in the middle class but by proportion they are rapidly dwindling.

I need help. I watched the debate last night via CNN.com. This morning I read Chuck Todd's account of the same debate and I am now confused. Is it me, is it Todd, is it others? I saw the debate as nothing like what Chuck Todd said it was.

oldfogey, sorry about the miscommunication the other day. I think we have it resolved! I appreciate your comments and experience of life! I'm a 61 year old newly retired, like your comments about napping..LOL
Hope you enjoy what your doing! You are doing a good job keeping us "young" ones in line!

You are made of: intelligence, sincerity, creativity, thoughtfulness, humor, depth, and a lot of real, honest to goodness spunk. I think I'm working towards telling you...you're a champion role model and our world could use a few more of you. I'm glad you're my friend. I'd like to have a cup of coffee with you while enjoying a good chat. For now, Ill settle for reading your columns. I would love it if you would critique the two I have in print, and give any suggestions you see fit. I've written several things but they aren't getting anywhere. Plug on. Until Later Whirling

Old foggey 'eh. As a proud Canadian, I will tell you that the bailout of Citi Group just solved all the problems of GM and Ford. I would reccomend buying these stocks now. It is apparent that Citigroup, holds most of the financing of these corporations. We can, as shareholders stop paying the executives, large bonuses, and at the end of the day it will be the consumer in America, who will fall, or (barely) survive.

Thought I had added a comment here ages ago. Must have got caught somewhere.
What can one say about oldfogey except that he epitomises the best of Newsvine. A leader to follow.
Wow! Having these words coming from you means a whole lot.
I want to thank you deeply and honestly for such inspirational words.I will head into your page tomorrow and dwell with your, as always, great essays.

People have said lately that newer 'viners from the MSNBC acquirement may soon overcome the classic users that have been here since the beta days. oldfogey is someone on Newsvine who can not be replaced.
oldfogey adds a ton to Newsvine. Always constructive, always thinks before he acts, and never negative. And always gets his point across. You earned your spot here Jerry.
Happy New Year to you Oldfogey. I am glad to have had the opportunity to be around while you are passing out your quality brand of Wisdom and Diplomacy. Thanks.

You can say it's just a website but sometimes, by example, you learn important things. Things about applied compassion, things about how small graces, incrementally, can define and illuminate both you and those who you meet along the way. Oldfogey is a wonderful teacher.
Hetep and Respect, Oldfogey is a Republican, but he is also and honest man, who is in favor of peace and justice and I can vote for that any time.
Without old fogey, Newsvine would not be the same. He adds a certain gentleness and wit that are rare. He has the ability to disagree with you, yet not come off as a know-it-all. Old fogey debates the best of 'em with class and respect. We can all learn a lot from him.

Old Fogey, I appreciate your honesty and experience. Cheers.
OldFogey is a great Newsvine journalist with years of experience and a great amount of wit and wisdom. We are all better informed for him being here. Now, if only he could figure out the darn spell check!
oldfogey is an old school farmer with a new school attitude on life in the internet age. His commentary around Newsvine is witty and charming, yet the photos he provides of his buddies and him make me want to hoof it over to his place for a good 'ol game of cards and a cold beer.
