Ron Paul/Dennis Kucinich for President
READ UPDATE AT BOTTOM!!!!!!
To many it may not seem reasonable to suggest a Presidential bid by such an Odd Couple. That may be true but I have this gut feeling that these two gentleman are just what the patient ordered for the repair of our nation's ills. Take a look at their biographs. Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich were both born in the Rust Belt. In fact, not far apart, Ron in Pittsburg and Dennis in Cleveland. They are of slightly different generations but they have shared in many of the same episodes of American history. Both have achieved greatly in politics but also in their personal lives. Both have an interest in health care on a personal basis yet both have widely different skills and assets to bring to the national political table.
While on the surface their views may seem contradictory their aims and endeavors are the same; they both want what is best for the American people. The people, not the institutionalized community of government and corporate copatriots who try to make us all think that what is good for their elite groups is good for all. We all know Americans are divided now on where politics should lead in this country. Here are two individuals who can span all sides of the spectrum while bringing all into focus on the needs and solutions that will work. Here are two individuals who through their political courage have proved they will present truth and not party talking points.
What is it about these two that makes me think they will work together? Why would two people, so far apart in philosophy, be what is needed in this time of strife for the US? Is there enough time between now and election to bring them together in a meaningful way so that they can appear on the ballot for 2012? Most of all, why should we work toward such an arrangement, what is in it for the people?
To begin with, they have been working together for a long time already. They both are long time representatives. They both have worked on important Congressional Committees. Their differences of philosophy reflect broadly the differences in the the American People. By bringing their ideas together they can better fulfill our needs than any other two Candidates I see on the horizon. Their expertise in commerce, administration, legislation and foreign affairs would bring a long and deep experience to the national political scene.
Timing will become crucial. These two gentlemen need to be introduced to each other and one way to do that is for their individual constituents to open their hearts and minds to the possibilities such a union would bring to our chaotic scene as it is. Those constituents need to start telling them such an alliance would be beneficial and has the added benefit of spanning all Americans and not just one particular party or group. Maybe this suggested team is not the answer. Maybe there is a better team or a better idea. Maybe someone will read this and come up with a better solution. Regardless, we, the people, need to take action now and straighten out the political mess that both major parties seem to insist on creating and/or maintaining. We need hope and change but not from the mouth of a pol. We need hope and change as decreed by the vote of the people. That can only happen if the people unite in the call for representatives. Can that happen? I don't know, but if it doesn't we are doomed for a continuation of the asinine in our government.
UPDATE: I took under good advice that there is a history of racism on the part of Ron Paul. Although my research is limited to what is readily available on the Internet I have concluded he is absolutely not a racist. Has he ever used words that might have sounded that way? Haven't most of us? Has he ever tried to pass legislation or pushed such that would have discriminated? I can't find anything that so indicates. I have found numerous items including transcripts from MSM that might portray him as racist but have not found them presenting anything close to evidence other than blogs, opinions and special interest newsletters. None of these have I found to include anything we could call evidence. I find some things have been repeated so often over the years by so many various and sundry that it is impossible for me to ascertain anything other than Ron Paul is a good American and works for all of us. If anyone has other real evidence I will gladly listen or they can post it as a comment. Thanks.
