This could be the banner/masthead for The Free Press

The Blue Avatar?
One of my first lessons in the newspaper business was to love the opposition or competition. Real early I found that I could confuse the local Daily with my simple, little Weekly by either adopting ideas from them, or even better improving on their ideas, or best of all tweaking their nose when they did some obvious BooBoos. Strangely they never caught on or countered my moves until it was too late. For them.
Now, suddenly I find The Opposition isn't being competitive at all. No siree! Now I find The Opposition is being very supportive. The Opposition is supplying artwork for the use of The Free Press and I am impressed. Impressed with the quality and creativeness of what The Opposition has granted us. Why in the world would The Competition want to help us out? Could it be that the competition and The Opposition are not one and the same?

The Snow Globe Avatar?
Well, you can solve this mystery by following this link to The Opposition. I wrote a Contact Author email to The Opposition and received his/her okay to publish the artwork so everyone can enjoy and comment on which they might rather have. The Opposition has stated that TO will modify if we want but I already have my favorites. I just wish we could use them all. I say the banner or masthead above is a must. I prefer the blue avatar but the others are equally acceptable to me. The Poster? I need a lot of help figuring out how to use it but it is going to be used one way or another.

The World Avatar
That makes three Avatars to choose from. Give me your comments. Now for the Mother of all great The Free Press artworks. This Poster is just what the Doctor ordered but he didn't say how it should be used. One of my thoughts is a New Member could use this as an introduction to their first article in The Free Press?
By the way, all this juggling of type and photos takes me back to the old typesetting days. I don't suppose my efforts will get the same results on everybody's monitor but if you are half way modern you should get a decent presentation. Let me know what you think and feed back about how this article appeared to each of you might be important for future layouts. Also, I don't want to forget scar_tissue, he/she did the roustabout work of making arrangements with TO and acting as liason to the Publisher. Thanks.

The Free Press Poster Child. I love it!
