My apologies to those Authors of The Free Press who entered articles for the First Edition. There were eight Articles and my Editorial included and two of those Articles were written by Dowser. Any of the eight could have received the Publisher's Award but Dowser's Double Duty paid off because I could not ignore two outstanding publications on her part. bore-head's Fishing article was right up there with the best. bore-head is at his best when he is fired up about his favorite industry. Mstanley had two entries in the Features Fold including a birthday greeting for September. scar-tissue and Coral Atlas presented very good representations of their eclectic viewpoints on politics and entertainment. The final article was one clipped by Katheryn Brandy that was written by Jonathan. Jonathon did his usual comprehensive and understandable work on the tough financial and economic issues before us. I thank all for their participation. I look forward to many more editions of The Free Press with these individuals prominently on its pages.
I have been using the words edition and issue interchangeably. I will try to use only issue from now on. I want to discuss Issue II here. Issue II of The Free Press will be published on October first. The topic and/or headline for Issue II will be Jobs, Jobs, Jobs. I would like to see the Membership post articles that pertain to jobs, especially any guidance, help or directions to obtaining work. Some Members may be aware of actual jobs or openings available in their area. Use this time to let others know that jobs are around.
In the future we may require all items submitted for an Issue be edited by at least one person other than the Author. Newspapers usually had all their content edited by an Editor or at least a Proofreader. I will suggest that each Member who submits an article for Issue II have at least one other Member go over the article before submission. This should help our quality as well as our ability to work together. If a Member wants a specialized wording on their masthead, let me know and I will try to supply one. Those capable of doing their own masthead editing are free to do so as long as they use all of our Group Masthead. Individual edits of masthead should follow the style of the Publisher's Masthead on this article.
SPECIAL BULLETIN!! Dowser has graciously allowed her $25 Award to remain in The Free Press Kitty. That means we have enough money to have a $50 Award or two $25 Awards or for some other use as suggested my the Members. Let me hear your suggestions.
