Urashima Taro was fishing on the shore when he spied the Pretty Princess of the Deep. She appeared before Urashima Taro on the back of a Giant Turtle.

Urashima went beneath the waves to live with his Princess of the Deep in the Kingdom ruled by her father. He remained there many years.

After a few years of living and loving His Princess, Urashima Taro became homesick and weary for his old friends and family above the surface of the sea. He became so distraught that he gave up his Princess and rode the back of the turtle back above the waves and on to the shore.

When Urashima returned to his home he found that more years had passed than it had seemed beneath the sea. All of his friends and family had died long, long ago and now Urashima was destined to live out his remaining life in a land he no longer knew.
The Tale of Urashima Taro is a cherished Japanese children's fable that has become an international icon for story telling, artwork and theatrical presentations. Google it and read the full story or watch the many beautiful videos produced based on the story.
I decided to post these photos today for several reasons. I had a short conversation with Calvin Tang on his most recent article. In his comments Calvin mentioned my T Shirt collection. Calvin had taken to the several shirts I had worn during the Washington D.C. Vinemeet a few years ago. While I was visiting yard sales today I couldn't keep myself from buying the sarong or silk artwork that you see me using as a cover in these photos. Calvin is also a diver of some excellence. If you are into diving you should follow some of his other works.
I also decided to use this as an entry for Foto Friday. I hope it is okay. Thanks to all of you for being here.
