I read articles saying our government is corrupt, non-representative, greedy and incompetent. I read articles from individuals about how poorly they are treated in the US. I read articles that claim groups are being taken advantage of by government. I read articles that say we need to replace our government. I see partisans fighting partisans and no one is accomplishing anything except to extend our inept government to inept discussions on the Internet.
Everybody bitches but few do. So, I propose a little test. All who read this can do one thing that would make a difference in government. Once we all do that one thing I think many will discover they should have gotten involved a long time ago. Are you ready to improve your government? Then do this one thing.
On the 8th of July everyone in reading range will go to their County Commissioners and request nicely a list of phones and phone numbers the County is currently paying for. If you get a quick answer you could then ask for a copy of phone usage over the last couple of months. If you don't get an answer, just wait. When we get to Step 2 we may make them wish they had answered promptly.
You have to start somewhere and this is about as low as we need to go. Do this and officials and workers will know someone is watching. You may also find misuse of funds and phones. Do this and State officials and workers will know as well.
July 8, Phone Day across America. Yes, this is short notice and not much time to prepare or to raise a crowd. Still we can grow from here and waiting for growth in numbers should not be an option. I am number 1, anyone join me?
Thanks for being here.
