In an effort to give greater reach for worthy news items The Free Press is looking for new materials and ways to aggregate items from within Newsvine itself. When we go to the front page of Newsvine, we often find we have to dig deep for articles that do not say "seeded by". Now, there is nothing wrong with seeding to Newsvine. We think there is something wrong with the preponderance of Seeds. Seeds are no more than copying someone elses work and publishing it here. What we really want is new, original materials. We want to know or at least have an inside glimpse at the authors. We want to facilitate originators, developers, creators and such. Why boost those you do not know over those you do.
Some readers may think The Free Press is out to censor authors. Not so! We do pick and choose what to publish or accept for publication. Any sane, intelligent, thoughtful publisher does the same. Always have. Always will. Publications, of which The Free Press is one, are subject to the whims and needs of the Publisher. Guess what? Guess who is the Publisher of The Free Press. That isn't a brag. That isn't a threat, that is reality. If you don't like it, you become Publisher of your own Publication. Better yet, anyone can become the Publisher of The Free Press. We have long advertised we are looking for someone to take over the task
In the meantime and until then, we are going to continue our search for new material and to contribute it ourselves if necessary.
